Here’s the announcement from the Presidio Historical Association (PHA) about this special event:
The PHA and the Interfaith Center at the Presidio are thrilled to announce a rare opportunity. On Sunday, December 15th, tentatively between 11 am and 4 pm, the Victor Arnautoff mural, a national treasure, will be open for free public viewing for the first time in over four years. PHA Board member Bob Cherny, a distinguished expert and author of the sole biography on Mr. Arnautoff's work, will be on hand to offer insightful commentary and answer visitors' questions about this historic work.
Interfaith Board member and docent Mary Zamboukos will also be present to guide guests through the Presidio Chapel's storied history, including its mural and famed Willemina Ogterop stained-glass windows. This event coincides with the PHA staffing its next outreach at the Presidio Visitor Center. On that day, members will be seated with National Park Service rangers and, among other things, help guide park guests to the chapel.
We hope you will join us and share the news with others you believe will be equally excited, and join us for this extraordinary occasion—and holiday season gift!
